SeeChange 2020 being online gives Jervis Bay and Basin Arts an unexpected opportunity to exhibit a selection of works from the MG Dingle + GB Hughes Collection. This significant art collection and archive was gifted to the Shoalhaven City Art Collection in June 2008 to help further the reputation of the collection and provide opportunities for residents of the Shoalhaven to view works by leading contemporary Australian artists.
Dr Natalie McDonagh, President of Jervis Bay and Basin Arts and SeeChange Festival Director, has selected 40 of some 400 works to share with you by way of introduction to this rich and generous gift to our community.
Max Dingle is a Life Member of Jervis Bay and Basin Arts, artist, curator and writer who generously donates his time, experience and skills to supporting SeeChange. In January 2020 Max was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in well-deserved recognition of his outstanding service to culture and arts in the Shoalhaven.
This wonderful art collection and archive was assembled by Max and his partner, the late Gavin Hughes, over a period of 50 years. Jervis Bay and Basin Arts is delighted to be able to pay tribute to this particular dimension of Max’s outstanding contribution to the cultural life of our city.
