SATURDAY 2 JUNE 2018. 10 AM – 4 PM. COST $100
Join well-known local artist Barbara Dawson in this interesting workshop and learn about the ecological method of contact plant printing and indigo dyeing.
In contact plant printing, plants (in this case mostly natives) will used to create colour and imagery on a beautiful silk scarf that will be ready to wear home that day. You will also experiment with plant prints on cotton and paper.
Discover the magic of indigo dyeing by making your own Furoshiki wrap- a traditional Japanese method of wrapping parcels. You will be shown various methods of simple shibori (a technique that involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it in indigo) to create a delightful pattern. All materials will be supplied but you may like to bring a few scraps of silk or cotton (must be natural fibres).
